The 21st Century Version of Anne of Green Gables
For those of you who have watched Anne of Green Gables, you will understand the title of this blog post. For those of you who haven't...just look at the pictures and pretend it's me. I can relate to Anne in so many ways. She is smart, kind, stubborn, and has a tendency to be a little spiteful at times. Really spiteful, actually. She always means well but disaster seems to follow her everywhere. That's where I come in. I can be stubborn, spiteful, I'm a klutz, and disaster seems to follow me, too.
Last night as we were going to bed Casey asked me, "Did you plug the truck in tonight when you got home?"
"Mmmm.....no....I didn't know where the chord was and I didn't feel like digging through the snow. I thought you could do that..." I'll admit it. I was lazy. But who wouldn't be when it's snowy and windy and cold?
He sighed and said, "Well it's probably where you left it when you unplugged it this morning."
"Unplugged?" I asked as my heart began to race. I bet my face looked something like the picture of Anne to the right...
"Yeah..."
"But you moved it last night by the house...I didn't think the chord would reach that far..." I said as I was thinking Oh no! You drove off with the chord! I wonder if it unplugged itself and I drove off with it dragging on the highway... I pictured me tooting right along with this long orange chord dragging behind, getting caught in the wheel and being ripped to shreds. Marcia, one of the people I ride with into work didn't say anything about it when she pulled up behind me. It has to be in shreds now... Oooo! Casey is going to be so mad!
I heard a sigh as Casey went outside to go look for the chord in the snow while I wondered if I could be so lucky that God just might have given me one last miracle and the chord managed to come unplugged from the truck...without being dragged across the county.
Casey came inside and said, "Well...you are really lucky. The cord came unplugged from the truck before you yanked it out of the wall..."
I cannot even begin to tell you the overwhelming relief that swept over me. So here I am...21st century version of Anne of Green Gables.
