Super Bowl Sunday

Casey and I spent our Sunday with my parents.  We were only allowed to come over if we brought Sam and Scout.  I also discovered that my parents keep dog bones in a - plastic bag - in the same canister they keep candy for their grandson, Kaleb.  I found this as I was raiding the candy jar and discovered two dog bones wrapped up in a plastic bag.  My parents have a canister for their grandchildren and their grand dogs.

Together - my mom, dad, Sam, Scout, Casey, and I - watched the Super Bowl together, eating pizza and drinking beer like true Americans.  This is kind-of an anomaly for me because I cannot remember ever watching a football game with my parents.  Casey is an avid lover of football so I have become accustomed to having a football game on once in a while.

As we sat watching the commercials and occasionally tuning into the Seahawks dominating the Broncos in the first half of the game, Sam and Scout decided to lay peacefully in front of the fireplace.

My parents recently got new iPhones and decided to try out their cameras and take a picture using their new phones.  My dad couldn't figure out how to use the zoom on his camera and so my mom grabbed her phone and started fumbling around with the camera until she discovered how to use the zoom on her camera, and then showed my dad.  They both started snapping photos and began comparing shots with each other.  My dad took the following picture and said, "Hey! That's a pretty good shot!"

My mom said, "Yeah, it is! But you cut off Sam's head."

"No I didn't," my dad protested.

"Yes you did!  Anyway, mine is better.  Look, I have all of Sam's head and the fire!"

This is the picture my mom took, below:

That's my parents for you.  It was funny watching them sit in their chairs with their iPhones, looking through their glasses, snapping photos.  We didn't really end up watching much of the Super Bowl - only the commercials.

In the meantime when Sam and Scout weren't laying next to each other, Sam warmed himself in front of the fire.  Sam loves fires - especially this time of year.  With his coat being so short, he gets cold really easily when he goes outside so usually the first place he goes to warm up is the fireplace, whether we are at our house or my parent's house.

With the winter being as cold as it has been, I don't ever remember being so excited for spring. It's a good thing we have fire to warm us up!
