Moving and Packing and Moving and Packing

Sam intently watching Casey load the baler onto the trailer. He decided he should go with me to take the horses to their temporary home...you know... so he could supervise. |
We only have two more nights left in our house and a trailer that is half full of some of our stuff, ready to be taken to our new home. Packing and moving is daunting. Both Casey and I have moved a lot in the last several years. At least now we are moving into a place that is our own and a place that will be ours for a long time.
Our house is looking less and less like a home and with the horses gone, the entire place feels different. It's strange not to have to go out and take care of them in the mornings and at night. Each evening that we have been packing, Guinness has laid down in the packing padding in whatever box I have been working to pack up. When he's not in a box, he is walking into the trailer as if to remind me that we need to take him, too! As silly as it sounds, I sat down on the couch and explained once again to both Guinness and Sam that we are moving, and not to worry, they are moving, too. Guinness sat on the arm of the couch, purring, looking at me, and Sam sat in front of me, starring intently. Casey walked by as I was explaining all of this, laughed, and shook his head.

The whole process of buying a house is extremely overwhelming. We are both ready to make our new house a home, but at the same time we are finding that as much as we are ready to move; we are having a lot of sentiments about leaving the house we have made our home over the last year. There are a lot of memories there, but many more memories to come.
Fortunately we were able to move most of our heavy equipment over the past weekend, thanks to the help of some of our friends. We are just hoping the rest of our move continues to go smoothly!
