New Year's Eve

I’ve been battling the flu since last Friday and needless to say…it has been kicking my butt.  I hate taking naps – I rarely take them – and I am usually up shortly after the sun is up because I don’t like to waste daylight.   Because I was sick, I slept for about 12 hours Friday night into Saturday, another 6 hours during the day, and another full 12 hours Saturday night into Sunday, and then another 6 hours on Sunday during the daytime.  And I am still exhausted.  I was woken up with a heavy weight on my stomach (very uncomfortable with my latest flu condition) during the middle of a dream where Scout was growing super fast and had become so heavy I could no longer carry him. I picked him up off of my stomach and immediately noticed that he had gained about 10 pounds and how he felt like a sack of potatoes, sagging in every which direction my arms weren’t supporting him…almost like a bowl of Jell-O.  “Geeze you’re growing fast!” I said to him.   I carried him outside and immediately ran to the bathroom.  When I came back out, I heard a “meow” coming from the door.  I had grabbed Guinness, not realizing it (may I remind that that I have been tired and sick) instead of Scout, who, on further inspection was still sleeping soundly on the bed.  Let’s not discuss the fact that Scout is lighter than Guinness at this point, his hair is a different texture, and he usually licks my face in the middle of the night when I take him out to do his business.  That, ladies and gentlemen, is TIRED.  Oh well.
Now it’s the final day of the year, and as usual, I am looking forward to a new year and a new beginning.  We have been blessed with so many new beginnings again this year with buying a house, I just accepted a new job with a new company, and my new puppy, Scout, that Casey got for me for Christmas.  2013 has been a good year for us, and so far 2014 is looking to be full of promise.   I like to take a look back at what we have accomplished throughout the year; what has been challenging and rewarding and give thanks for both because our challenges make us grow even more than our rewards.  I like to let go of the things that have held me back and hold onto the things that push me to move forward.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year’s tonight.  May the New Year bring lots of love, warmth, and laughter to all of you!
